Haymarket Riot 11/20/08
This is Haymarket square, where the Haymarket riot occurred. On May Day 1886, the workers at the McCormick Harvesting Machine Co. in Chicago began a strike in the hope of gaining a shorter work day. On May 3, police were used to protect strikebreakers and a scuffle broke out; one person was killed and several others injured. The following day, May 4, a large rally was planned by anarchists leaders to protest the so-called police violence. It didn’t take long before a pipe bomb was thrown into the police lines; the explosion took the lives of seven policemen and injured more than 60 others. The police fired into the crowd of workers, killing four. Hundreds of workers were held; some were beaten during questioning and a number of forced confessions were obtained. In the end, eight anarchists were put on trial and seven were convicted of conspiracy to commit murder. Four were hanged in November 1887, one committed suicide and three were later pardoned by Illinois governor, John Peter Altgeld.

Speech 11/7/08
Barack Obama: I am here to thank America. I am thanking America for all of the support toward my campaign. I am thanking America for listening to what I have to say. I am thanking America for considering the ideas that I have to make this a better counrty. I am also, thanking America for believing. Believing that America is capable of acomplishing great things. I am here to tell you, that America IS capable of acomplishing great things. And America WILL acomplish those things. I am here to tell you, that anything we want to do as a contry, we will do. I am here to tell you that I, as the president of the United States, will do everything possible to make this a better contry for all.
John McCain: First, I'd like to congratulate Barack Obama on his exciting win tonight. I know Barack is a great choice as the next president. This is a historic time for all of us in two ways. First, we now have the first African American to become the president of the united states. Next, it is a historical time because with Brack Obama as our president, this country will experience the change this country has needed for a long time now. Now that we have Barack Obama as president, your worries about failure in this country can go away. If I were to choose one person on this earth the hold this country in the palm of their hand, and to make all desicions, and to make changes, it would be Barack Obama.

In this article I learned that physical properties are used to observe and describe matter. This article told me about the different kinds of physical changes such as melting point and boiling point. Melting point is when an object is heated and turns into a liquid. Boiling point is when a liquid is heated and turns into a gas or vaporizes. This website supports what we are learning in science because we are learning about the different types or physical changes like melting point and boiling point.
